In 2013, David Banks' close friend, Sheena Wright, was arrested twice in connection with a domestic violence incident. Her arrest was voided after David Banks contacted his brother Philip, then the chief of community affairs at the NYPD. However, David Banks claims he “did not ask for any favors of his brother.” Conflicting accounts raise questions about the political culture where insiders expect an unfair legal process that gives them advantages.
