Stefanik's governor's race complicated by Trump's praise-worthy White House meeting with Mamdani

— The nascent governor's race by U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y. 21) appeared to hit a rocky patch after President Donald J. Trump (R) held a White House meeting with Mayor-elect Zohran K. Mamdani (DSA-New York City). Stefanik has been linked Mamdani as a foil to incumbent Gov. Kathleen Hochul (D-N.Y.). But that game plan suffered a set-back after the president sang the praises of the Big Apple's controversial next mayor. This is not the first reversal of fortune for Stefanik.
