Muriel E. Bowser will not seek reëlection as D.C. mayor : reports

For more than a decade, Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D-Washington, D.C.) oversaw gentrification, the Coronavirus pandemic, racial strife over police brutality and officer-involved homicides, the decline of the Democratic Party, and the start of two Trump administrations. Controversy and criticism have also followed her. However, in announcing her decision not to run for another term as mayor, Bowser claimed victory over what she "accomplished."
