Hong Kong officials arrest three construction company employees over the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire

Hong Kong officials have reportedly arrested three employees of a construction firm over the deadly fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. The firm, Prestige Construction, was cited twice with safety offences in 2023 before being hired to provide renovation work at Wang Fuk Court, according to a report published by South China Morning Post. More than 83 people have reportedly died and 300 remain missing.

Despite the offences, the firm would subsequently take on renovation work in 2024 at Wang Fuk Court housing estate in Tai Po, which had been ravaged by fire for more than 24 hours since Wednesday.
