Ukraine peace talks infused with motivations of profit, adding controversy to a complicated settlement

The negotiation of peace was going to require a crackdown by Ukraine of allegations of corruption. During the war, the war-time president had seized too much power, according to critics. But that criticism has not been isolated to just the Ukraine. Officials in the U.S. and in Russia have faced accusations of power consolidation and corruption, as well.
