Protesters disrupt possible ICE action in Downtown Manhattan, leading to arrests by the NYPD

— The NYPD discharged pepper spray and arrested more than a dozen protesters to quell an uprising against Federal agents. Today's protest follows increasingly violent conflict in response to the immigration crackdown and deployment of the National Guard by the Trump administration. The activist community in New York City, whilst selectively active, can create flashpoints of tension with authorities, particularly in response to a perceived police state. Canal Street was recently raided by ICE.
