Tish James declines to prosecute two NYPD officers in the death of Win Rozario

NEW YORK, December 4 (C'est Vrai) — Despite a CCRB finding of misconduct, two NYPD police officers will not face criminal charges over the 2024 death of Win Rozario, a teen in crisis. State Attorney General Letitia James (D-N.Y.) announced that her office will not prosecute Matthew Cianfrocco and Salvatore Alongi, claiming in a report that, "a prosecutor would not be able to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt that Officer Alongi and Officer Cianfrocco were justified under the law when they fired the five shots."

  March 31, 2024 — It was in 2021 that then-Commissioner Dermot Shea released new rules requiring recordings of “critical incidents,” which includes those resulting in a civilian’s death, to be released within 30 days. The department must comply with that rule here, ideally releasing footage sooner than that.
