— Some LGBTQ activists in New York remembered the self-pledge made during the mayoralty of Edward I. Koch : Never again would the queer community let a mayor serve in the closet. But politics is situational, and transactional, even amongst those on the vanguard of activism. As Eric Adams' term as New York City mayor comes to an end, here's a review of some homophobic low-lights during his time in City Hall. Was it all self-hate, or self-preservation ?
