U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal. 11) announced that she will retire from Congress following the completion of her current term in 2027. During her two terms as U.S. House Speaker, she was largely responsible for passing important legislation and checking the power of Donald Trump's first administration. Her retirement is part of a wave of general change amongst the ranks of the Democratic Party.
